Yes, this is completely normal! What you're experiencing is exactly what we want to see for new clients. As explained in the introduction video, our Method is designed to draw pollutants, infection and debris 'up and out' of your pores through rapid cellular turnover. The dryness and flakiness occur as the pore-clogging, debris-filled skin cells dry up and shed, revealing fresh, clear, and healthy skin underneath.

After beginning my Résolu routines, my skin is feeling dry, windchapped, tight, and looks red and flaky. Is this normal?
How long does the drying phase usually last?
Each client’s journey is unique, and the timeline can vary based on factors such as the condition of their skin before starting the Method, their consistency with product application, and whether they prefer to accelerate or slow down the process. In most cases, clients begin to see significant improvements in their skin within the first six weeks, and transformative results around the three-month mark. Once we get the majority of cleaning and clearing done, your skin will naturally begin to hydrate itself as we restore the function to its natural state. This can occur in cycles of drying and hydrating. One thing to note is that the drying process is always worse at the beginning, and gets easier week by week.
My under-eye area and eyelids are feeling uncomfortable and looking wrinkled during the drying phase. Is this normal and how can I give them relief?
This is completely normal and is experienced by many of our clients when they first begin the process. We do want you to keep the products away from your undereye area, but even when that is done properly the products tend to travel. Most clients will have a product called Zinc Recovery Gel, which can give some relief to the area–please consult with a Résolu team member before adding this in. We also have excellent eye and lip products that can be incorporated into your routine further into the process.
Should I expect any skin-purging when beginning the Résolu Method?
Our products do not cause any purging effects. Rarely, our clients with pigmentation sometimes see a temporary increase in pigmentation. This is not new pigmentation, but rather our products pulling out pigment on a deeper level of the skin, so that we can sweep it away.
I need to have more hydrated skin for an upcoming event. Can I “pause” the process, and how will this affect my results?
Yes, we can temporarily slow down the process in order to ensure you aren’t too dry for a special occasion (weddings, corporate events, photoshoots, etc.). Please consult a Résolu team member about which hydrating routines to follow in the 3 days leading up to the event–but make sure to return to your normal routines after the event!
How should I be removing my makeup?
We recommend purchasing a microfiber towel such as the Magic Makeup Eraser to remove your makeup before you cleanse. Or, you can simply double-cleanse.
Can I get Botox or fillers while using Résolu products?
Yes.
How can I mitigate flaking before putting on makeup?
A great way to decrease any flaking before makeup application is to mask (Clarifying Mask or Pore Perfecting Mask) in the morning. After you rinse your mask off, many of the dead skin cells will be sloughed away and leave a better canvas for makeup to be applied.
Can I continue use of my Résolu products if I become pregnant?
Yes, we work with pregnant women frequently and are happy to help you navigate the changes in your skin that pregnancy may bring. Please consult a Résolu team member about which products need to be approved by your doctor.
When should I apply my routines if I will be working out at some point in the day?
The goal of timing your product application is to ensure your products stay on your skin for as long as possible. If you work out in the morning, it's best to wait until after your workout to apply your full AM routine. If your workout is later in the day, there's no need to reapply your morning routine—simply wait until it's time to apply your evening (PM) routine.
I will be applying makeup for an event in the evening. How should I prep my skin?
Assuming you have already done your AM routine earlier in the day and want to refresh your makeup for the evening, you may apply a prep routine of Ultra Foaming Cream Cleanser, Balancing Toner, and Calming Cream before you get ready for an evening event.
How should I protect my skin from sun exposure?
While protecting your skin from sun damage is crucial, we do not recommend applying facial sun protection when starting the Résolu Method due to the mineral ingredients found in most sunscreens. During the initial skin-cleaning phase, we suggest wearing a hat or visor for extended sun exposure, particularly during peak hours (UV level of 6 and above). As you progress in the process, we offer excellent sun protection options, such as Dermal Defense or Tinted Defense. Please consult a Résolu team member before incorporating these products into your routine.
Can I expose my skin to extreme heat (saunas) or extreme cold (cold plunges, submerging face in a bowl of cold water, ice-rolling) while working with Résolu?
Extreme heat and cold can be stressful for your skin. While some clients do enjoy heated workouts or saunas occasionally, we recommend minimizing exposure to extreme heat or cold during the early stages of your transformation with Résolu. This will help ensure your skin adjusts smoothly to the process.
Can I continue use of my Résolu products if I am placed on antibiotics?
Yes, you can continue using your Résolu products while on antibiotics. However, antibiotics can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so please inform a Résolu team member if your doctor has prescribed you a course of antibiotics.
How often should I be masking?
Application of the Clarifying Mask or Pore Perfecting Mask should happen at least five times per week. You can mask either in the morning or evening, depending on your preference and amount of time available.
I have a breakout on another part of my body (neck, chest, back, etc.). Can I apply my Résolu products to the area?
Intermittently, but not regularly. The skin on these areas is different from your face, so it may not respond in the same way. We also recommend considering a food sensitivity test, as acne in these areas can sometimes indicate an underlying issue.
I have a new breakout. What should I do?
Please send us photos and a recap of your routines, so that we can advise on next steps
Should I zone or spot-treat any active breakouts?
Zoning and spot-treating with products like Clarifying Treatment or Acne Control Cream are effective additions to your routines, but not a substitute for applying product to your full face. Please consult a Résolu team member about using this technique for breakouts.
How do I know if my skin is overtreated?
Feeling discomfort or seeing redness does not necessarily mean your skin is overtreated. However, in rare cases, some clients may apply products too heavily. If you're concerned, please send in your photos so we can assess your skin and provide personalized guidance.
My skin gets worse at certain times in my menstrual cycle. How can I use my Résolu products to combat this?
During the time in your menstrual cycle when you notice more blemishes, we recommend increasing the frequency of your acne-fighting products (such as Acne Control Cream, Clarifying Treatment, Purifying Paste, and Clarifying Mask) in anticipation of this period. This proactive approach can help combat breakouts before they occur. Consult a Résolu team member for guidance on how to tailor your routines.
Should I be dermaplaning?
We do recommend dermaplaning to ensure the products can penetrate your skin without interference from peach fuzz. Additionally, if you're acne-prone, it helps prevent bacteria from being trapped in the peach fuzz. If you're a Dallas client, we'd love to dermaplane your skin regularly! For our remote clients, we suggest gently wet-shaving your face with a Venus three-blade razor during the Cleansing step as an alternative. Please avoid at-home dermaplaning devices, as they can be harmful to your skin.
What role do treatments play in the Phase I process, and how can I incorporate them if I am a remote client?
Treatments are designed to accelerate your skin's transformation. Ideally, you should have a treatment done at least once per quarter. For our remote clients, we offer at-home treatments that can be applied independently, with either instructional videos or guidance through a video call. Please consult a Résolu team member about treatment recommendations.
